Earlier the global car market was filled with the buzz that Hyundai Motors Co. is all set to buy General Motor’s European arm, Opel. But the reports took a turn, when Hyundai Motors officially told the media that it has no interest in buying General Motors Co’s Opel. However, Hyundai’s main target is to increase and heighten their car sales in Europe by approximately 40% by the year of 2013. This means, Hyundai Motors is now aspiring to sell over 500,000 cars in Europe till the end of 2013.

Previously, reports suggested that General Motors was thinking of putting Opel again for sale and Volkswagen and Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co being the potential buyers. Nonetheless, there has been no official statement from General Motors yet.On the other hand, on Monday, Hyundai’s spokesperson made it very clear by giving a statement that Hyundai Motors is not interested in Opel at all. Another thing made clear by Hyundai Motors was that the South Korean car maker aims to sell around half a million cars by the year of 2013 and further aspires to grab 5% of the market share by the year of 2015.

Hyundai with the partner KIA Motors Corporation made a joint effort in 2010 and were successful in outperforming and managed to sell Toyota Motor Corporation to the major Asian Auto group in Europe. And this gave Hyundai a boost of confidence and now it’s aiming to touch the mark of selling 500,000 cars in Europe.
