India bound Hyundai ix25 has secured five star ratings in the crash test done in China by C-NCAP (China New Car Assessment Program). In a total of four test, the compact SUV secured 5 star ratings in side impact, 100 percent in overlap front crash, 40 percent in overlap front crash and whiplash.
In the 100 per cent overlap rigid barrier crash test, the collision engaged with energy-absorbing crumple engine compartment with front airbags deploying normally. While in the side impact test, the car showed significant deformation on the roof beam with side airbag deploying perfectly.
Moreover, in the 40 percent overlap deformable barrier crash test, the vehicle showed deformed crash beam while in the whiplash test, dummy movement was recorded to a lesser extent with normal contact to head restraint. And because of Hyundai’s better build quality, the car showed no deformation on all the three A, B, C pillars.
As per the rules, the 100 percent overlap frontal crash test and side impact crash test was carried at the speed of 50kmph while the 40 percent overlap frontal impact test was done at of 64kmph.
Based on Hyundai Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy, the ix25 looks like a baby Santa Fe and features day-time-running-LEDs, projector headlamps, LED tail lamps and diamond cut alloys.
When launched in India, the compact SUV is expected to share its powertrain with the on-going Verna while transmission are likely to be 6-speed manual and 6-speed auto.
