Jaguar and Volkswagen Showcase Cars at Make In India Event

Jaguar and Volkswagen have showcased their India made products at the Make in India Event, which is currently underway in Mumbai. The yet to be launched Ameo has taken a stage on Volkswagen’s behalf and the 2016 XJ and XE have been showcased by Jaguar. All there cars were recently on display at the 2016 Auto Expo. Jaguar XE made its India debut at the 2016 Auto Expo and was launched at a price of Rs. 39.90 lac, ex-showroom Delhi.

Ameo

Volkswagen Ameo was first showcased on February 02, 2016. This is the first made-for-India sub-compact sedan from the German automaker and was developed locally at the company’s manufacturing facility in Chakan, Maharashtra. It shares a lot of its components with its elder and younger siblings. Engines are a carry forward from the Polo hatchback and interiors are acquired from Vento sedan. Also, the car has many segment-first features like cruise control and rain sensing wipers. Engine line-up consists of a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder MPI petrol engine which develops 74bhp of power with 110Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder TDI diesel that is capable of producing 88.7bhp with 230Nm of torque. Ameo will be launched later this year. 

XJ

Jaguar recently updated their flagship sedan, XJ and launched it in India at a price of Rs. 98.03 lac (ex-showroom, Mumbai). It comes with 2 engine options in three trims. The petrol mill is a 2.0-litre block and the diesel is a 3.0-litre unit. Exterior changes are minimum ,but on the inside the car has a a re-calibrated multi layered virtual display and a fully digital instrument cluster with a 20.32cm touchscreen display. Coming to XE, this is a baby Jaguar and has entered an import segment in the Indian market, which so far has been dominated by the German trio, Mercedes, Audi and BMW. It has a turbocharged petrol engine which produces power in 2 tunes. The standard unit produces 197bhp of power and 320Nm of peak torque, whereas the more powerful tune delivers 236bhp of power with 340Nm of peak torque.
