Jaguar has decided that it will not be taking C-X75 hybrid concept off the paper and into the production plant. The auto maker had created 5 models of the hybrid concept of which 3 will be auctioned with 1 being retained for demo purposes and the second will go to the upcoming Jaguar car museum. The C-X75 hybrid concept is powered by a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged supercharged mill in collaboration with 2 electric motors that send power to all 4 wheels. Interestingly, the C-X75 chassis is made out of carbon fibre by F1 team, Williams.
“We feel we could make the car work, but looking at the global austerity measures in place now, it seems the wrong time to launch an 800,000 GBP to one million-GBP supercar," said Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar global brand director explaining the decision. It is also likely that the company does not want a repeat of 1992 when it launched the incredible XJ220 and received a lukewarm response due to a financial crisis.
