Jaguar has introduced a new 3.0-litre V6 supercharged petrol engine. This is the same engine that will also propel the upcoming F-Type. This mill yields a maximum power of 335bhp and a whopping torque of 450Nm. As a process of downsizing, this engine will replace the existing naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 petrol sibling. Hence, it will be introduced on the MY13 (model year 2013) of the Jaguar XJ and the XF. The deliveries of this supercharged engine powered Jaguar cars will begin by the end of this year and as Jaguars are CBUs, we expect them to be introduced into the Indian car market at a similar time.

This new engine will be produced in Jaguar's new engine facility that is built in i54 South Staffordshire, a business park near Wolverhampton in the UK's Midlands. JLR has invested about £355 million in this new facility to manufacture all-new, advanced technology, low-emission engines in the UK. The existing 2.2-litre diesel also gets an upgrade in its power ratings, as the oil burner now churns 197bhp rather the 190bhp. Major tweaks have been done to reduce the emission and enhance the existing fuel economy, and the increase in horsepower is an additional bonus.
