As the downsizing game gets crazier with each passing day, JLR has introduced a new, powerful Ingenium petrol motor to its mid-size luxury sedans and lone SUV
Jaguar Land Rover has added a new petrol motor to its Ingenium family of downsized engines. The new 2.0-litre petrol engine, first seen on the four-cylinder version of the F-Type, will soon be offered globally with its entry-level model, the XE, along with XF and its first-ever SUV, the F-Pace. It expected that Jaguar will offer the same engine in India as well in due course of time.
The new 2.0-litre motor puts 300PS of max power and 400Nm of peak torque, thanks to its twin-scroll turbos (two-stage). The Jaguar trio already offers lower tuned versions of the same motor.
The XE powered by this motor sprints from nought to a 100kmph in 5.5 seconds and requires just 6.9-litres of fuel for every 100km (14.49kmpl). The XF, on the other hand, does the 0-100kmph run in 5.6 seconds and its fuel efficiency is rated at 7.2-litres per 100km (13.8kmpl). The F-Pace SUV takes 6.0 seconds to reach 100kmph from a standstill and drinks 7.7-litres for every 100km (12.98kmpl). The fuel efficiency figures are quite impressive considering the power output of the uprated motor.
In India, Jaguar recently launched the diesel version of the XE, thereby giving customers more choice. The British car maker owned by Tata Motors also introduced the made-in-India XF earlier this year.
