Jaguar Land Rover posts strongest ever half-year sales

Jaguar Land Rover, a pat of Tata Motors sold 38,831 vehicles in the month of May, registering a good growth of 20 percent. The British manufacturer retailed 2,40,372 cars between January and June this year, up 14 percent as compared to the corresponding period last year. Infact, JLR has delivered more vehicles in the past six months than in the whole of 2010. The auto major witnessed good growth in almost every region it operates currently. The China region showed 53 percent rise, North America grew 19 percent, the UK jumped 15 percent, the Asia Pacific region sales were up by 11 percent, while the Europe's sales graph went 8 percent up.

Commenting on the May performance Andy Goss, Jaguar Land Rover Group Sales Operations Director said: "This has been another solid month for Jaguar Land Rover with continued strong demand for models across the range in our international markets. The continued success of F-Type convertible, coupled with the launch of Coupe, has supported Jaguar sales momentum. For Land Rover, the Range Rover Sport and Evoque continue to deliver impressive sales performance."

Jaguar in particular delivered 4 percent more vehicles at 6,450 units. Jaguar's regional performance were as follows: the China Region up 37 percent, the UK up 7 percent and Asia Pacific up 3 percent. While the sales trend in Europe and North America showed negative growth. Calendar year to date, Jaguar sold 35,992 vehicles, up 16 percent. While Land Rover retailed 32,381 vehicles, recording 23 percent jump in the month. Land Rover's region-based performance were as follows: the China Region up 57 percent, North America up 29 percent, the UK up 17 percent, Asia Pacific up 14 percent and Europe up 13 percent.
