Jaguar has released a picture of its upcoming all-new mid-size sports sedan, Jaguar XE, in the form of wrapped chassis. The picture shows us the overall shape of the Jaguar XE in its final stages of testing. Jaguar has earlier unveiled a picture of the car after announcing the name as XE at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. Apart from being an all-new car in a new segment for Jaguar, the XE also brings with it many significant firsts to the company and the segment.

The Jaguar XE will be the first car from Jaguar and also in its segment, to get an all aluminium monocoque chassis. Jaguar’s new advanced aluminium architecture was first previewed in the C-X17 concept I 2013. Jaguar XE will also be the first car to be powered by the company’s Ingenium range of engines. The engines include 4-cylinder petrol and diesel units that are lightweight, of low-friction and low emission.

The Ingenium engine is the most flexible architecture ever produced by Jaguar Land Rover. The advanced design of the engine range is configured in such a way to suit in-line and transverse installations for rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The engines will be both efficient and powerful with top speeds of over 300km/h and CO2 emissions of lower than 100g per km.
Jaguar XE will be unveiled at the upcoming Paris Motor Show and is global roll out is set to begin in mid-2015. On launch, Jaguar XE will take on the proven rivals in the form of BMW 3-series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4.

Talking about the new Ingenium engine family, Jaguar's Vehicle Line Director for XE, Mr. Kevin Stride said, "The engineering development of the XE has focused on delivering customers with the most advanced, efficient and refined sports sedan in its class. We are excited about our progress to date and are looking forward to soon being able to demonstrate what we have achieved."

Mr. Ian Callum, Director of Design, said that the new Jaguar XE is every bit a modern Jaguar; more compact in size but visually striking. He also said, “Customers will expect a great deal from a mid-size Jaguar - it must be practical but premium.  We never forget we are designing a Jaguar and that means it must be as exciting to look at and drive as it is brilliant to run and practical to own. We believe we've done just that with the Jaguar XE."
