Jaguar Cars, a British subsidiary of India's leading car maker Tata Motors, is eying to roll-out the hybrid versions of its XJ and XF models by 2013-14, reported a leading British car magazine. It is to be mentioned here that Land Rover, another British subsidiary of Tata Motors, had recently announced that company is planning to develop new hybrid cars.
The magazine further reports that the Land Rover will be testing its first diesel-hybrid concept model named as 'range_e' by the end of this year. The 'range_e' prototype will be developed at the Range Rover Sport's platform. The prototype will be tested using a 3.0 litre TDV6 8-speed automatic transmission ZF diesel. It is reported that the company will try to reach a range of 20 miles at electric power along with a considerably low CO2 emission at 100 g/km and the maximum speed of around 120 mile/hour.
The engineering centre of Jaguar Land Rover in the British Midlands is reported to be developing an electric-hybrid engine, which will be used in both diesel and petrol models of both of the companies, including Jagaur's XJ, XK and XF and Land Rover's Range Rover, Range Rover Sports and Discovery models.
Both Jaguar and Land Rover had showcased their range of vehicles at a shared platform at Delhi International Auto-Expo, held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, in January this year, where they attracted a large number of car enthusiasts and visitors.
