Following up on the success of the inaugural HIMALAYAN DRIVE, Kolkata based Just Sportz Management Private Limited has announced the HIMALAYAN DRIVE 2, a TSD Rally for cars and motor cycles.

Just Sportz announces second season of Himalayan Drive

The TSD Rally will be a FOUR LEG event, starting from Siliguri in North Bengal on 29 January 2014 and finishing there on 1 February 2014 after a drive of almost 600 KM.

Leg 1 will run between Siliguri and Lataguri, a resort tucked away in the elephant dominated forests of Dooars in West Bengal after traversing dirt tracks, tea gardens, canal embankments and forests.

Leg 2 starts from Lataguri and ends at Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. On this leg, the rally goes through the forests before starting the climb up the Eastern Himalayan foot hills crossing tea gardens and pine forests on the way. Crossing over the turbulent Teesta the rally will enter Sikkim for the final run up to Gangtok.

Leg 3 from Gangtok to the QUEEN OF THE HILLS, Darjeeling will be mainly on mountain roads with a few tourist landmarks and tea gardens thrown in.

Leg 4, the final leg from Darjeeling climbs up and down the mountain roads before heading for the plains. A dose of dirt tracks and river bed crossings await the competitors before they finish in Siliguri.

The mighty Kanchenjunga is expected to oversee the event for most of the distance. According to Siddhartha S. Bose, Director of JUST SPORTZ and also the Rally Chairman and Chief Rally Coordinator, “The western Himalayas have iconic events like the Raide- de-Himalaya and Mughal Rally. For whatever be the reasons, the Eastern Himalayas, with a huge choice of terrain and other natural assets, have remained ignored when it comes to motor sports. HD 2 is not just a motor sport event. Through this event, JUST SPORTZ intends to show case the Eastern Himalayas as a favoured destination for adventure sport and tourism. Cultural events and dinners comprising local cuisine have been lined up in Lataguri, Gangtok and Darjeeling with the Tourism departments of Sikkim, GTA and West Bengal agreeing, in principle, to partner the event. This rally will be a true test of man and machine with culture and cuisine thrown in to sooth the tired nerves.

“We are also very keen to encourage local competitors from this region to get into motor sports. For them there will be discounted entry fees and separate prizes.” JUST SPORTZ has also adopted Rotary International€Ÿs „END POLIO NOW€Ÿ as a CAUSE PARTNER at a time when India is on the verge of being declared a POLIO FREE COUNTRY.
