Keshub Mahindra awarded with ASSOCHAM Lifetime Achievement Award

ASSOCHAM (The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India) today conferred Keshub Mahindra, the ex-chairman of Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) with a lifetime achievement award for his contribution to the Indian Industry over a period of five decades. In his absence, the accolade so given to Mr Mahindra was received by Arun Nanda, Director, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd on his behalf.
Looking back at his carrier, Keshub Mahindra joined the company as a board member in 1948 and was later on appointed as Chairman - Mahindra & Mahindra in the year 1963. Making a paradigm shift from a sole SUV manufacturer to producing tractors, auto components, scooters, bikes and commercial vehicle's; the home grown automaker achieved many critical milestones under his leadership of 5 decades. This was not the company's only achievement, in fact over the years, they ventured into other sectors such as I.T. real estate, hospitality and financial services which helped them grow as a business entity. From the year 1969 to 1970, he was also named the President of ASSOCHAM as he is currently serving as a member of the factions Apex Advisory Council.
Speaking on the occasion, Rana Kapoor, President ASSOCHAM said, “As an inspirational business leader, socially conscious philanthropist and visionary entrepreneur, Mr. Mahindra’s contribution to Indian business and industry is truly extraordinary. As a true doyen of Indian industry, he has not only helped build the Mahindra Group into a globally diversified multinational with a strong Indian ethos, but has also contributed to the development of a strong manufacturing sector in the country through active participation in several apex government committees and forums”.
His vast experience has also led him to hold many key positions in numerous boards and councils. These include names such as SAIL, Tata Steel, Tata Chemicals, Indian Hotels, IFC, ICICI and HDFC. Keshub Mahindra was also the founder chairman of HUDCO (Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited) and Vice Chairman of Housing Development Finance Corporation and Mahindra Ugine Steel. As 'President' he has been a part of three association, namely, ASSOCHAM, the Employers' Federation of India and the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
