Kia Seltos Air Purifier Explained

The air purifier can be controlled through both the UVO Lite smartphone application and the touchscreen infotainment unit

Update: Kia has launched the Seltos in India at a rather enticing starting price of Rs 9.69 lakh (introductory pricing). It is available in a massive 16 options to choose from. You can get the Seltos in two petrol and one diesel engine option along with four transmission options. Here's everything you need to know about it.

• The Seltos receives Kia’s Smart Pure Air purifier with HEPA filter.

• It gets a digital inset on the back of the front armrest that shows in-cabin air quality level.

• The air quality levels can also be accessed via the UVO Lite smartphone application and infotainment system.

• The air filter needs to be cleaned by a vacuum cleaner and requires a time reset after every cycle. 

• Kia will offer 12 fragrance options for the cabin, including Lavender, Forest and Ocean. 

Along with the multiple engine-transmission combinations, the Kia Seltos will be depending on its multiple segment-first features to standout in the crowded compact SUV segment.  One of these features is the Smart Pure Air purifier which Kia claims can monitor the in-car air quality.

The air purifier has a 2.16-inch LED display behind the front center armrest that shows the AQI (air quality index) level inside the car. Apart from this, the Kia Seltos also has a perfume diffuser with 12 fragrance options, including Ocean, Lavender and Forest on offer.  The controls for the air purifier can be accessed through the 10.25-inch central touchscreen or the Bluetooth-based UVO Lite smartphone application. 

But as with any filter, this too requires cleaning depending on the pollution levels in your surroundings. If you are in areas up north such as Delhi-NCR, you will have to clean the filter more frequently whereas owners in relatively less polluted cities can take a slight breather on that front. The SUV also gets Eco Coating technology that eliminates odour from the air conditioner. This tech is already present in Hyundai cars like the Verna and Creta. 

The Seltos’ filter for the air purifier will have to be cleaned using a vacuum cleaner. It also requires you to reset the time after each cycle. We are yet to receive information from Kia regarding the warranty or the cost of replacing the air filter. Our test car, which had around 200km on the odo prior to the drive, showed that the air filter would need cleaning after 485 hours. Want more official information about the Kia Seltos?
