Jaguar Land Rover has revealed its future ‘electric’ plans for India. The British carmaker is looking to introduce hybrid vehicles in Land Rover India's portfolio by the end of 2019. This move is in line with JLR’s plans of having an electrified version of all models in the portfolio globally, by 2020.
Currently, Land Rover has two vehicles in its global portfolio that have plug-in hybrid capabilities - the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. It will in all probability be one of these or both these SUVs which JLR will launch in India by the end of 2019. Both the SUVs are capable of running on pure electric power for only 48km (approx).
In the UK, Range Rover’s base-spec Vogue variant is priced at Rs 75.18 lakh (converted, approx amount). In India, the same variant is priced at Rs 1.8 crore (ex-showroom). The plug-in hybrid variant of the car, meanwhile, is priced at Rs 80.25 lakh (approx) in the UK, before any optional extras. So we can expect the same model to be available in India in the Rs 1.9-2.0 crore price bracket. However, the exact prices will also depend upon which variant of the SUV Land Rover offers in India.
