Made in India Ford EcoSport to be exported to Europe

Ford which is about to launch the much awaited compact SUV EcoSport in India will also launch the similar vehicle in Europe in late 2013. Now the company says that the European version of the vehicle will be built in Ford's Chennai facility and then exported to Europe. It was revealed by the Ford Europe Chief, Stephen Odell during a media round table.

The EcoSport which is already sold in a few markets including Brazil, is a global product that the company believes will help Ford to hold the market share in Europe at the time of economic slowdown. Ford is expanding its SUV line up and aiming to sell 1 million SUVs in Europe by 2017.

Speaking to reporters, Odell said, "I've seen competitive models, some winning European car awards, launched at extremely high discounts," "There's clearly more margin in some segments than in others, which is why we think our new products enable us to get better retail share, which means better margins," he added.

Ford has already started promoting the EcoSport through an amazing online campaign called, EcoSport Urban Discoveries to reach out to target customers base spread across the length and breadth of the country. There are also media reports that Ford might launch the EcoSport as soon as in April, and make an official announcement about pre-bookings and other car-related things even before that.
