Mahindra Group mulls over launching of new auto models in Sri Lanka

The Mahindra Group, one of India's leading business houses, unveiled its plans of launching several new models for strengthening its position in the automobile market of Sri Lanka.
Anand Mahindra, the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of $7.1 bn Mahindra Group, said that in keeping with their long term plans for the (Sri Lanka) region, the group is soon going to enhance its current product portfolio in the market by launching several new products. This will include the Maxximo, a technologically modern sub 1 tonne pick up and HCVs (Heavy Commercial Vehicles), added Mahindra. He further added that the company is also analyzing on the chances of launching an electric car, the Mahindra Reva, in Sri Lanka, in the future.
The Mahindra Group has already established its base in Sri Lanka. The group has been selling its wide range of tractors and utility vehicles since a decade. Since it’s market entry, the automotive sector of Mahindra has sold more then 4,000 vehicles in Sri Lanka. The vice chairman of the company commented that the launch of Mahindra Gio (the compact truck of the company) in Sri Lankan market had reported a good response.
