The tech-laden cabin is the biggest step forward yet for any Mahindra SUV

Mahindra has really stepped up in terms of technology and features for the cabin of the XUV700. It exudes a sense of modernity and comfort with its integrated displays and premium upholstery. Perhaps the biggest change for the replacement of the first-gen XUV500 is that the XUV700 will be offered with the choice of a 5-seater or 7-seater layout.

The black finish on the dashboard, doors and handles looks premium and offers good contrast to the creme upholstery to the top variant showcased here. There is a mix of gloss black and chrome elements across the cabin. It also features faux wooden inserts around the door handles.

The XUV700 features a twin-screen setup atop the dashboard for a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. It also has a new steering wheel with the latest Mahindra logo and a mix of gloss black and chrome elements.

The lower-spec MX variants get an alternative setup with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display and a 7-inch display in the gauge cluster.

The new infotainment system is powered by a new UI called AdrenoX. It also features integrated Amazon Alexa AI for various voice-enabled functions that control the infotainment and some offline remote vehicle controls as well. Most of the technological features of the XUV700 are accessed and controlled via this display.

Mahindra has fitted the top-end of the XUV700 with a Sony sound system comprising a 445W 12-speaker setup.

Its digital display can cycle between various types of information layouts. The screen’s basic format will showcase two round dials for the speedometer and tachometer and other vehicle information in between them.

The central console under the top half of the dashboard features the sleek central AC vents, the dual-zone climate control panel, and a large storage space with a wireless charging pad. There are tactile controls and dials for the AC as well as an array of buttons for various functions such as the 360-degree camera, hazard blinkers and toggling various safety systems.

The central tunnel between the front seats has chrome surrounds for each section. First, we have the drive selector (or gear selector in manual variants) with an electric parking brake and auto-hold next to it. Behind that, on the driver’s side, there is a rotary dial that also helps navigate the infotainment system. There are buttons around it as well which act as shortcuts like going back to the home page, music player or for hands-free telephony. The cup holders are on the front-passenger side of the central tunnel.

The XUV700’s driver’s seat is 6-way power adjustable. Mahindra has also programmed the driver side seat to slide backwards for easier ingress. The driver’s seat also features a memory function that can store the exact setting for its usual user. At the push of a button housed on the driver-side front door, the seat can be reset to that saved setting in terms of height, recline, and distance from the pedals.

The panoramic sunroof (claimed to be the largest in the segment) adds to the cabin experience of those sitting in the rear.

In the seven-seater layout, the third row of seats can be folded down flat into the floor to make room for luggage. They also split-fold 50:50 and offer three-point seatbelts, a small storage area on each side and have dedicated air vents too for the passengers.
