The coupe-styled version of the electric XUV700 has been spied recently, giving us a first look into its cabin
-
The cabin has an integrated triple-screen setup and a new two spoke steering wheel.
-
Heavily camouflaged exterior with makeshift lighting setup only reveals the coupe body shape.
-
The SUV can get a range of up to 450 km, with both rear-wheel drive and and all-wheel drive options.
-
Could be launched by April 2025 at an expected starting price of Rs 38 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Mahindra XUV.e9 is among the next batch of new-gen electric SUVs due to be launched by the Indian carmaker. The coupe-styled EV has been spotted testing from time to time as it nears its production-ready avatar. The latest spy shots of a XUV.e9 test mule give us a first glimpse at the interior as well, and it looks similar to the one on the Mahindra XUV.e8 (electric version of the Mahindra XUV700) which was also spotted recently. Let’s get into the details of what we saw.
Screens, Screens, Screens
The first thing you notice in the spy shot is the massive screen setup, nearly spanning the entire width of the dashboard. This screen setup will have three integrated displays: a digital instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment system, and a passenger display. Another new design bit over the first concept is the two-spoke steering wheel.

The rest of the dashboard feels fairly conventional with slim AC vents in the centre console, the same gear shift lever as seen on the XUV.e9 prototype, and a dial which could be used for switching drive modes. Also, while the seats are not visible completely, we can see that the upholstery is a combination of both fabric and leather.
Features & Safety

As a premium offering, the Mahindra XUV.e9 is also expected to have multi-zone automatic climate control, (adaptive) cruise control, ventilated and powered front seats, wireless phone charging, and a premium sound system. Being an electric model, it can also get multi-level regen and vehicle-to-load (V2L) technologies.

In terms of safety features, Mahindra could equip it with up to 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and ADAS features like lane keep assist and auto emergency braking. Based on the XUV700’s performance in the Global NCAP crash tests, we expect the Mahindra XUV.e9 to score well when crash tested by the Bharat NCAP.
Powertrain Details
The Mahindra XUV.e9 will be based on the carmaker’s INGLO platform which can accommodate 60 kWh and 80 kWh battery packs. This platform, with these battery packs, can accomodate both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel-drive setups, and give the SUV a claimed range of up to 500 km.
As per Mahindra, it can also support past charging capabilities of up to 175 kW, with a 0-80 percent charging time of just 30 minutes.
Launch & Price
The launch of the Mahindra XUV.e9 is expected to follow the XUV.e8 (electric XUV700), which is due to arrive by the end of 2024. It is likely to carry an expected starting price of Rs 38 lakh (ex-showroom), placing itself as a rival to the upcoming Tata Harrier EV and Safari EV.
