Maruit intends to cross million mark production
Maruti Suzuki, India's largest car maker, is aiming to cross the million units combined production capacity at its Gurgaon-Manesar plants this financial year. As a result waiting time for new Swift diesel or Dzire and export backlog for A-Star would be made up. At present, three lakh units are being produced at Manesar plant which is to be increased by one lakh. Mayank Pareek, executive officer for sales and marketing at Maruti Suzuki, said that the company is mulling a capital expenditure outlay of Rs 2,100 crore for 2009-10. It will be achieved through re-tooling the plant for production efficiencies, developing new models, RD activities and expanding production of its K-Series engine. The company is currently increasing the production timing and altering the production schedule to roll out more cars. Maruti Suzuki sold its highest number of 2.26 lakh cars in exports rose 135% to 29,314 cars in the first quarter of FY10.
