Maruti Suzuki India had launched the Maruti Alto Xplore variant few hours before the Hyundai EON launch with a slew of attractive features to hold its fans from straying to the rival brand. Moreover, the leading car manufacturer has resorted to heavy marketing campaigns to build the hype around the new launch including internet, television and newspapers. In addition, the Maruti dealers are also offering lucrative discounts to make the most of the festival sentiment in the season.

Hyundai Eon is the biggest rival in the car market, specifically developed by the Korean auto manufacturer to target Maruti Alto. With the strong intention behind the launch, no wonder the Indian manufacturer seems to be under major pressure. At a competitive price tag of Rs 2.69 lakhs of its base variant, Hyundai Eon is good value proposition. Hyundai India expects to make a sale of 10,000 units in a month on an average. The Hyundai Eon is placed a notch below the auto major’s flagship model Hyundai Santro, which had been the largest revenue generator for the company for more than a decade now. However, with the launch of the new hatchback, the auto major is expecting Hyundai EON to eat into the sales of Hyundai Santro. Hyundai Eon is equipped with an 814 cc petrol engine generating the peak power of 56 Bhp and 76 Nm of top torque.

Maruti Alto on the other hand with the engine options of 800 ccF8D engine and a 1.0L K10 engine witnesses a tremendous sales of 20,000 units a month. Maruti Alto has a long presence of a decade in the country, synonymous for its economical price tag, high fuel efficiency and durability.  Maruti India might not be content with a revamped Maruti Alto. The auto giant will have to take a plunge into introducing a brand new car, which could be Martui Cervo.
