Takeaways
-
With the best month-on-month growth (MoM) of over 56 percent in August 2022, the Maruti Brezza marginally edged out last month’s table-topper, the Tata Nexon. Surprisingly, the SUV’s year-on-year market share was recorded at break-even point.
-
Following closely on the heels of the Maruti SUV, the Tata Nexon’s sales figures stood at a little over 15,000 units. Do note that these figures also include the numbers of the Nexon EV Prime and Max.
-
The Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet duo took the next two spots on the sales chart. While both the SUVs crossed their average six month sales numbers, the Venue’s MoM figure went down by over six percent.
-
Mahindra shipped over 4,300 units of the XUV300 in August. That said, its market share was still shy of seven percent.
-
The Nissan Magnite and Toyota Urban Cruiser came in the next two spots after the Mahindra SUV. Both the Nissan and Toyota SUVs were pretty close to each other, with the former taking a marginal lead. The Urban Cruiser, though, saw the biggest drop in MoM figure, which was over 53 percent.
-
Renault’s Kiger ranked last on the list with under 3,000 unit sales. On the positive side, it bettered its average six-month sales number and even crossed July’s sales figure.
