Maruti facing stiff competition in India

Maruti India, countries largest car maker is facing stiff competition to retain its market share in the country as many major car manufacturers are aggressively planning to launch their small car vehicles in India. Presently we are seeing a lot of auto companies penetrating the Indian market. We are having severe competition at the moment, said Mr Suzuki Chief, Osamu Suzuki.
In coming months many carmakers are planning to launch their small car models in India including Toyota Etios, a new small car from Honda and an ultra low cost car from Nissan-Renault-Bajaj Joint venture. On the other hand many major car makers has launched their car models in India which includes Chevrolet Beat, Volkswagen Polo and Ford Figo.
Besides this the company is also developing a small car in India which will be designed by it's own R&D facility. The car will be launched in India by year 2012. Company is investing heavily on its facilities in India including its R&D and engine manufacturing facility.
