Maruti R3 likely to launch later this year

As reported earlier, Maruti unveiled the glimpse of its multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) called Maruti R3 at an Auto Expo 2010 in New Delhi. As per speculations, Maruti is planning to launch the next generation Maruti R3 MPV during the festive season later this year.   Senior financial officer from Maruti said that the car will focus on the customers of other cars in the segment like Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylo. Furthermore, with six-seater Maruti R3, the company will mark its presence in multi-purpose vehicle segment.

As per reliable sources, the all new Maruti R3 will be based on Maruti SX4 platform and new name will be given to production model. It is also expected that the safety norms will not fulfill the standards of developed markets but will be changed in later stages according to requirements. Additionally the size of Maruti R3 is going to be a bit smaller than Toyota Innova with 6-7 people capacity.

Furthermore, Maruti R3 is expected to encompass front wheel drive and it may be possible that the car comes fitted with Swift’s 1.2 liter K-Series engine or the SX4’s 1.6 liter VVT engine under the hood. It is also speculated that the LPG and CNG options will be added in the fleet of Maruti cars within 12-18 months after the launch. Needless to say, if Maruti R3 isn’t released from factory by Diwali, company will definitely launch the much awaited designer marvel at the Auto Expo 2012.

Yes as with all Maruti cars there would be a wait period for the R3 also.

    this will have a minimum delivery period of 6 to 8 months........isnt't
