Maruti rolls out only 250 cars from Manesar, standoff continues
As the impasse between workers and the management continues at Maruti India's Maneasar plant, the company rolled out 250 cars from the unit.Two weeks old agitation had reached a worse point as the production at Manesar plant is highly suffering since August 29. As the company has started its star hatchback Maruti Swift's production in Gurgaon also an additional 110 units of the Maruti Swift were rolled out from there.

Suzuki Motor Corporation Chairman Osama Suzuki who was in the country to finalize 's Maruti Gujarat plant deal with Narendra Modi had also reportedly supported the management and had said that the firm would not compromise on discipline. He was quoted as saying indiscipline was not tolerated, not in Japan, not in India. It was never in the interest of any company and its people.

RC Bhargava, Maruti India's Chairman aggravated the company's firm stance on this issue by saying that Maruti was clear that the people (workers) will have to sign the good conduct bond. Only then would they be allowed into the company. The company would not take a hasty decision because of a daily loss of production at the Manesar plant.While most of the workers are innocent and hardworking, there are some who are highly indisciplined. He earlier said that outside elements influence most of them.
According to reports, on an average, the firm produces about 1,200 units of a mix of Maruti Swift, Maruti Swift Dzire, A-Star, Maruti SX4 and models every day from the Manesar plant. It is estimated that till Friday, the labor unrest had resulted in a production loss of about 10,260 units and revenue loss at over Rs 510 crore. Maruti Suzuki India had hired a batch of 95 skilled technicians on Saturday,taking the total strength of the workforce at the Manesar plant to around 1,050. The company will hire new employees if the older ones are not willing to sign the good conduct bond.
