Maruti S-Presso vs Renault Kwid vs Maruti Alto K10: Space Comparison

Which of these three entry-level models offers the most spacious cabin?

The Maruti S-Presso is a brand-new model in the carmaker’s already extensive product portfolio. As a micro-SUV offering, the S-Presso is positioned above the Alto K10 while rivaling the Renault Kwid. While all are compact offerings, they are differentiated by their design language, but how do they fare in terms of cabin space. We start by comparing the exterior dimensions of the three models:

Dimensions

• The Kwid is the longest and widest model of the three and it has the longest wheelbase with the most voluminous boot.

• The Alto is the smallest by every measure. It is 20mm shorter and 5mm narrower than the S-Presso.

• The S-Presso is the tallest model by at least 59mm.

Front-row Space:

• In terms of kneeroom in the front seats, the S-Presso has the most to offer when the seats are all the way back. The Kwid and S-Presso have the same minimum kneeroom but the Alto K10 has more.

• The Alto has the most headroom for front passengers, followed by the S-Presso and the Kwid, which has the least.

• In terms of cabin width, the Alto and S-Presso offer the same space, which is more than the Kwid.

• The S-Presso has the tallest front seatback and the longest seat base for a more upright driving experience. The Alto has the widest front seat base. The Kwid’s front seats are the smallest in terms of seat base width and seat back height.

Second-row Space:

• The new S-Presso offers the most kneeroom for the rear occupants both at its minimum and maximum value.

• When it comes to assessing the ideal kneeroom, the S-Presso has a lot more space to offer—100mm more than the Kwid.

• Surprisingly, the Alto K10 has the same amount of rear headroom as the S-Presso, which is 20mm more than what the Kwid offers.

• The Kwid’s rear seat has the tallest back, 25mm taller than the S-Presso and 65mm more than the Alto K10.

• In terms of cabin width in the rear, the S-Presso offers the most space but by a narrow margin.

• The Kwid’s rear bench is wider than the S-Presso and the central floor hump is wider but not as tall.

Pricing

• The Kwid comes with the smaller engine option as compared to the Maruti offerings. It gets a 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre petrol engine but the S-Presso and Alto K10 only get the 1.0-litre petrol engine. All three are offered with an AMT too.

• Thus, the Renault model has a lower starting price but it also has the highest price tag for its feature-loaded top variant.

• The S-Presso and Alto K10 are similarly priced but the S-Presso’s top-spec is priced higher for its extra features.
