Maruti Suzuki crosses 1 lakh units sales mark in the domestic market

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the leader of India’s car market has got another feather in its cap. The company has achieved a new milestone by selling a total of 118,908 units during October 2010. Last year, over the same month, the company registered a growth of 39.2 per cent. This also includes around 11,353 units that have been exported. Maruti Suzuki India Limited also sold a total of 85,415 units in October 2009. This figure of October 2009 itself included 13,864 vehicles of export markets. It has happened for the first time that the company has passed the sales mark of 1 lakh units in the domestic market. This time the company has touched 107,555 units. In September 2010, the company’s earlier highest domestic sales was 95,148 units.

The October 2010 sales registered the highest numbers including large volume segments. For example, in A2 segment, this number is recorded as 77,502 units in comparison of the earlier highest 68,921 units in September 2010. Similarly, in A3 segment, 11,621 units have been registered in comparison of the earlier highest 10,883 units during the month of May, 2010. During October 2010, in A2 segment, the sales of the company grew by 50.7 per cent. On the other hand, the sales growth in A3 segment was thirty two per cent in comparison of October 2009. In the C segment, the sales growth of Maruti Suzuki India Limited was 91.8 per cent whereas in B segment, the sales were up 151.2 per cent over the period of October 2009.

During the year 2010, in A2 segment, the company recorded sales of 77502 units. This included the models like Maruti Alto, Maruti Wagon-R, Maruti Zen, Maruti Swift, Maruti A-Star and Maruti Ritz. While during the previous year, this number was just 51,437. Similarly, in the year 2010, the company successfully sold 11621 units while during the earlier year, the company had sold 8804 units. The festive season of Diwali got even more festive for Maruti Suzuki India Limited with the company's achievement in the domestic market.
