Maruti Swift recalled in Japan, safe in India

It is the time when Suzuki Motor is saying that it has ordered the return of its large number of Maruti Swift car products in Japan due to a defect in the door mirror. At the same time, the Indian subsidiary of the company, Maruti Suzuki, has made it clear that the Swift models which are being  sold in India are totally safe and secure and there are no plans of the company to replace these models in India. A spokesperson of the largest carmaker of the company said that the Swift cars sold in India are all natively developed and these models are completely safe. He added that they have got a big plant here where the company makes its cars and its Swifts in India are absolutely safe as they have no such mirror screw problem.

According to the reports of the agency, Japan’s fourth largest car maker, Suzuki Motor, will order the return of 90,617 units of its Swift models and three of another of its car models in Japan for fixing a probable door mirror defect. Around 192,000 cars sold abroad by Suzuki Motor will also probably be subject to certain repairs. Suzuki Motor exports car to several European countries. The company has taken the decision of recalling the model after the defect of screws in the side view mirror. These screws in the side view mirrors can loosen because of the powerful vibrations and can probably cause mirrors to dislodge. The company even received seventy seven complaints for this defect but no reports of accidents have been reported in Japan due to this defect.

The recall of Maruti Swift by Suzuki Motor begins tomorrow. This recall will also have an impact on 19,426 vehicles sold in Japan which Suzuki had supplied to Nissan Motor Company. This model is one of the most famous Indian hatchbacks and indeed worldwide too. The model was introduced in India in the year 2005. The model has also won the Car-of-the-Year award in as many as eleven countries. Apart from this, the model has more than forty national and international awards to its credit. The model has also been credited with the Guinness world record for the largest gathering of cars.
