Key Takeaways
-
Maruti’s sub-compact SUV, the Brezza, has forced the Tata Nexon to relinquish its top spot for the second consecutive month. The carmaker shipped more than 15,000 units of the SUV in September, which gave it a market share of almost 25 percent.
-
The Tata Nexon closely followed the Maruti SUV with sales of over 14,500 units. That said, its month-on-month (MoM) figure went down by nearly 4 percent. These figures are inclusive of the Nexon EV Prime and Nexon EV Max as well.
-
Another model to breach the 10,000-unit sales mark in September was the Hyundai Venue, as the carmaker dispatched 11,000-odd units of the SUV. Even then, its MoM and year-on-year (YoY) numbers dipped by nearly 2 percent and more than 6.5 percent, respectively. These figures also include the sales numbers of the Venue N Line.
-
The Venue’s sibling, the Kia Sonet, had a MoM growth of over 18 percent. Its market share was a little shy of 15 percent with total sales of nearly 9,300 units.
-
With an increase of more than 40 percent in MoM numbers, the Mahindra XUV300 saw the biggest jump in demand from August to September in its segment.
-
The Nissan Magnite-Renault Kiger duo stuck to the third-last and second-to-last spots, respectively. Even their combined sales were less than the model above the Magnite, that is the Mahindra XUV300 and both had a market share of under 5 percent.
-
Toyota’s Urban Cruiser dropped 89 percent MoM with less than 500 units sold. It will likely be replaced by a new-gen model soon, expectedly based on the new-gen Brezza.
