Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) is reported to recruit around 280 people in its R&D division by the end of March 2010. It is reported that the current strength of employees in R&D division is 720. MSIL`s managing executive officer (Engineering) I V Rao said that the number is expected to increase up to 1,000. Mr Rao added that the company needed some experienced people. It is believed that this move is caused by company's policy to be a global hub for small car development. For that the company is to recruit more experienced employees. The Maruti Suzuki's R&D division is being developed to be at par (SMC's) facility in Japan. It will also have crash test centre. SMC has already stated that India would be the global small car development hub outside Japan for other markets, I V Rao noted.
