Maruti to upgrade all models to meet BS IV norms
Maruti Suzuki India is working hard to upgrade and modify all its models to meet Bharat Stage IV emission norms. The company said that the new K series is more efficient and giving better results. So, the company intends to upgrade and modify the existing engines to K series. Maruti Suzuki India's Managing Executive Officer (Engineering) I V Rao told reporters after launching the new Ritz model that the company wanted to use K series engine for different models to meet the BS IV norms which will come into effect from April 2010. He also made it clear that Maruti800 and Omni is expected to exist in the market after the necessary upgradation. He said that initial tests suggests that the car will be in the market beyond 2010. The company had announced a investment of 1,200 crore for the upgradation process. A senior officials at MSI said earlier that “While all our new launches will be on the new engines, in the long term we plan to gradually replace our existing series of engines with the fuel efficient KB series engines.”
