Maruti Vitara Brezza Reclaims Title For Bestselling Subcompact SUV In June 2021

The Nexon has moved ahead of the Venue and Sonet in the monthly sales chart
In June, thankfully, we saw the auto industry make a comeback of sorts, with sales picking up pace again. The subcompact SUV segment continues to be the most popular among buyers, offering as many as nine cars. These are the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Ford Ecosport, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and Toyota Urban Cruiser.
Here’s how each SUV fared in June 2021:

The subcompact SUV segment registered a near 100 percent rise in sales -- from 24,207 units in May 2021 to 47,691 in June.

The Vitara Brezza was the bestselling model in this segment, selling 12,833 units. This was a MoM growth of almost 400 percent. In May, Maruti’s production took a hit because of the various interruptions while the second wave of the pandemic was still raging in the country. However, levels have gone back to normal since, hence the massive increase in numbers.

Tata Nexon climbed to second on the list, toppling the Venue. It sold 8,033 units in June, registering a 25 percent MoM growth in the process.

Kia Sonet comes in at number three, selling 5,963 units in June 2021. However, it is the only model this time that saw a decline in its month-on-month sales -- from 6,627 units sold in May.

Hyundai Venue slid to the fourth spot, selling 4,865 units last month, which is just 25 units more than May 2021. That said, it has been consistently reporting the best average sales over the past six months.

With 4,615 units sold in June, Mahindra XUV300 comes in at the fifth place. However, it reported the highest MoM growth of over 1,700 percent, considering it sold only 251 units in May.

Ford Ecosport registered a 600 percent jump in its monthly sales -- from 503 units in May to 3,511 units for June.

Nissan sold 3,252 units of the Magnite in June 2021, registering a 171 MoM growth.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser sold 2,584 units in June, which is a 600 percent uptick in its MoM growth.

The Renault Kiger fared the worst compared to others on this list, dispatching only 2,035 units in June. Still, this was a 50 percent increase from the 1,326 units sold in May.
