Maserati has confirmed the Levante SUV production to commence in February next year. The car is scheduled to make its debut in the Geneva motor show in March, following the initiation of its production. The car is based on the Kubang concept and has discarded the Jeep platform on which it was based earlier. The new car will be a Maserati unit built from ground up.

Harold Wester, CEO of Maserati said “It will be based 100 per cent on the Quattroporte platform, and be the lead vehicle for lots of new content that will be rolled out across the range.” He further added “It will be significantly different from the concept and better in every way.”
Maserati has managed to increase its sales by roughly 600 per cent in the last two years, courtesy of the new Ghibli and Quattroporte. The launch of Levante will be followed by pushing the Alfieri concept into production in late 2016, which will rival Jaguar’s F-Type. In 2017, the company is also planning to introduce a cabrio version of the Alfieri and a replacement for the GranTurismo will be launched in 2018.

Levante will feature turbocharged 350bhp and 425bhp V6s. There is a strong possibility that the car will also be available with a V8 that will deliver more than 560bhp and three diesels that will offer a power output range of 250bhp to 340bhp. Alfieri family, which includes coupe and cabrio will only feature V6s that will be available in three different power options viz 410bhp, 450bhp and 520bhp variants. This isn’t particularly surprising, taking in consideration the impressive line-up of Maseratis that are available in India.
