Mercedes A Class and Mercedes B Class cars to drive into India

It's time for celebration for Mercedes lovers in India, as Mercedes has planned to introduce Mercedes A Class and Mercedes B Class cars into India. To add to the delight the company also aims at assembling the cars in India so that the cars can be offered to Indians at much lower prices.

Though in order to really see Mercedes A Class and Mercedes B Class on the Indian roads, one has to wait for the next three years. The latest decision by Mercedes to introduce Mercedes A Class and Mercedes B Class into India is apparently Mercedes effort to climb back the number one premium car manufacturer position in India. Notably, Mercedes close rival BMW has snatched the title from it after BMW launched its fleet of premium segment cars in India. The Mercedes C-Class, CL-Class, CLS-Class, E-Class, GL-Class, M-Class, R-Class, S-Class, and the Mercedes SL-Class are already in the battery of Mercedes cars available in India.

With its prime focus on keeping the car prices to a bare minimum low, Mercedes has started assembling some units of luxury sedans Mercedes C class, Mercedes E class and Mercedes S class. In the beginning only the engine and transmission are being assembled at the Chakan manufacturing unit at Pune. This unit has a capacity of 10,000 units per year.

Similarly, Mercedes is also thinking on the same line for Mercedes A class and Mercedes B class cars. However, the decision for production of these cars entirely in India is supposed to be taken by Mercedes Germany but, it seems to be an obvious decision if Mercedes wishes to compete with the same segment cars offered by BMW. BMW offers its BMW X1, an SUV at a price of Rs22.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) while the cheapest Mercedes car in India which is the Mercedes C Class is available at Rs25.48 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Thus it is for sure that whatever the Mercedes or the BMW will do to keep their car prices low, the ultimate winner would be the customer.
