Mercedes SL Facelift Revealed at Los Angeles Motor Show

Mercedes has showcased its SL facelift at the ongoing Los Angeles motor show. The car features various aesthetic updates, keeping in line with its facelift classification which includes new alloy wheels, color schemes and bumpers. The updates are not just skindeep as this facelift also features a hoard of new equipment. The gadgetry includes Carplay, which is compatible with your iPhone and allows the user to use Siri while cruising. Speaking of cruising, the car also features a hardtop roof which one can engage and detach at speeds under 40kph.
The driver's bay also gets displays reflecting statistics like acceleration, Gforce etc. The SL also gets Merc’s Active Body Control, which enhances the handling characteristics of the car and as you accelerate, ABC also lowers the car by 13mm to enhance the aerodynamics that help you maintain better control. Other hightech features include brake assist and self parking but Merc’s ‘steering pilot’, takes the cake as this system coupled with cruise control helps in keeping the car in lane.
Under the hood the car features engine options that include a V6 (SL400) that produces 362bhp and a V8 (SL500) variant producing 449bhp. Both of these cars are also offered in their AMG incarnations which includes the 577bhp SL63 and the SL65, which features a 621bhp twinturbocharged V12. The SL65 also boasts of amazing acceleration figures as it can go from 0 to 100kmph acceleration in under 4 seconds. All cars share an electronically limited top speed of 250kph, which can be extended up to 300kph with the optional ‘Driver’s Package’ on the AMG variants.
