MG Shows Off A Hydrogen Fuel Cell MPV With 605km Range At Auto Expo 2023
The hydrogen tank on the MPV can be refuelled in just three minutes
MG has taken the covers off a new hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV), called the Euniq 7, at the Auto Expo 2023. The FCEV people carrier has a 6.4kg hydrogen tank, offering a range of up to 605km.
The Euniq 7 MPV measures almost as much as the Kia Carnival and could be its greener rival. It even has sliding rear doors, a key aspect for any premium MPV. Like most premium MPVs, the tall front profile is dominated by a large grille by stretched LED headlights. The rear end styling is simpler with wraparound taillights connected by a chrome insert while the rear windscreen looks larger thanks to the black surrounds.

The MPV uses MG’s third-generation fuel cell technology called ‘PROME P390’ with a peak power output of 125PS. Like all hydrogen-powered EVs, the only emission of the Euniq 7 is water. The PROME P390 can operate at extreme temperatures ranging from negative 30-degree Celsius to 95-degree Celsius.
While this is the first time the Euniq 7 has been presented in India, the hydrogen-powered MPV made its global debut earlier in 2020. It is already on sale in some hydrogen fuel compatible markets like China.

The alternative fuel is being developed and explored for India as well, and could be suitable for models like the Euniq 7 MPV in a few years, along with other FCEVs like the Hyundai Nexo.
MG has not only showcased the Euniq 7 at the 2023 Auto Expo, but has displayed a range of new cars alongside. Check out our day one Auto Expo news round-up for more details.
