MG Motor dealers have begun accepting unofficial pre-launch bookings for its upcoming ZS EV -- an electric SUV that will be the brand’s second product for the Indian market. Bookings can be made at select MG dealerships for a token sum of Rs 50,000.
The ZS EV will initially be available in five cities: Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru. Buyers in other parts of the country would also be able to buy the ZS EV, but it would be more of an order-on-request kind of process. The car will be delivered at the nearest MG showroom and MG will also set up a wall box charger at buyer’s houses. However, they will miss out on the fast-charging setup that will be present in the aforementioned cities.
MG’s first electric car in India will be going toe-to-toe with the Hyundai Kona Electric and we expect it to be priced in the same Rs 22 lakh to Rs 25 lakh bracket.

The ZS EV’s battery pack is rated at 44.5kWH and coupled with the 150PS/350Nm electric motor, it is expected to have a certified range of over 400km just like the Kona Electric. In more realistic real-world conditions, it should deliver a range of somewhere around 300km. The fast-charging function of the ZS EV allows the batteries to be topped up from 0 to 80 per cent charge in just 40 minutes.
MG has also kitted up the ZS EV with quite some features. Connected car tech, an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, climate control, a PM2.5 air filter, a panoramic sunroof and keyless entry with push-button start are some of the features that will be on offer.
MG will reveal the India-spec ZS EV on December 5, soon after which we will also get to drive the car. So, stay tuned to Cardekho for more news on the ZS EV and its first drive review.
