Mitsubishi reveals Outlander PHEV Concept-S

Before its official unveiling at the upcoming 2014 Paris Auto Show, Japanese car manufacturer Mitsubishi has revealed an all new plug-in hybrid concept. Christened as Outlander PHEV Concept-S, the concept is described as a special design package for the regular Outlander PHEV, which made its first public appearance in 2012 Paris Auto Show. 

The vehicle comes with various tweaks inside-out, that provides the much-required sporty stance to the Outlander. It gets wraparound headlights and tapered grille, which claims to add a sense of motion, while the front-grille has been inspired from three-diamond logo of the Mitsubishi brand. On the inside, designers have gone with carefully executed detailing to express precision, quality and craftsmanship. Fine black wood grain for the dash with silver accents and soft, hand-stitched leather trim for the seats are some of the prominent additions in the cabin.

Designed on the Mitsubishi's future styling theme, the Outlander PHEV Concept-S follows the footmarks of the bran'd previous concepts such as the XR-PHEV and the GC-PHEV. Furthermore, it can be expected that this futuristic styling seen on this concept, can come on-board with the next-generation versions of the Outlander and its smaller Outlander Sport sibling.

As this concept vehicle is based on the Outlander PHEV, it features the production SUV’s same plug-in hybrid drivetrain, comprising a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, two electric motors and a 12-kWh lithium-ion battery. The system allows for multiple driving modes including electric-only four-wheel drive.
