M&M contemplates to launch Ssangyong SUVs by 2012
According to the reports, Mahindra Mahindra has plans to launch its SUV from Ssangyong during next year. Ssangyong, a South Korean Auto brand is quite well-known for SUV manufacturing, had been acquired by MM in February, this year. The Indian auto brand is currently involved in preparations to launch its SUV Mahindra XUV 500.

Mr Vivek Nayar, the Senior Vice-President of Marketing in automobile division of MM has reportedly said that the company is also focusing on the production of its leading SUVs, Mahindra Scorpio, Mahindra Bolero and Mahindra Xylo. The other models production from MM involves the Mahindra Verito sedan and the pick-up truck Maxximo. MM which is a very popular automobile brand in the SUV segment had established its position in the sedan segment, with Mahindra Verito. Mahindra and Renault together had launched its sedan Mahindra Renault Logan some time back. After parting ways with Renault, Mahindra had made its entry into the sedan segment in form of Mahindra Verito .

The Joint Venture of Mahindra and Renault, which had come to an end over a year ago had been able to sell just 300 units of their Logan product. With the Mahindra Verito sedan, the MM has been able to witness a marked growth in sales with 1,710 units.

Apparently, the company is also concentrating on the sub-four meter version of the Mahindra Verito sedan in near future to cut down the costs. The Government levies the excise duty on the cars based on their length, hence a shorted model observes a price reduction due to lower excise duty. The company sales report suggests a considerable growth 30.38% at 37,684 units in 2011 against 28, 903 units in August, last year. The company's overall sales also seem to be improved by 31.09% from last year.
