Update (14/09/2023): The Tata Nexon facelift has finally been launched, with introductory prices starting at Rs 8.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Tata Nexon facelift has been revealed ahead of its launch this festive season. The subcompact SUV is frequently updated with new features and variants, but this is its most significant update since launch. The changes are significant over the older Nexon, which are detailed in this comparison:
FRONT
The front profile bears inspiration from the Tata Curvv and looks a lot more modern compared to the older Nexon. It now sports a sleeker and sharper grille with a fresh set of LED DRLs. The new split headlamp and bumper designs complete the SUV’s new front profile.
SIDE
The Nexon facelift runs on freshly designed alloy wheels, which continue to be 16-inchers. The original silhouette and sloping roofline of the Nexon have been retained with the new version.
REAR
The Nexon becomes the latest car to join the ‘connected LED tail lights’ trend. The boot lid looks more prominent and the chunkier rear bumper gives it a slightly sportier look.
INTERIOR
The interior gets a complete revamp with a more premium and modern touch. The cabin will now be more colourful, depending on the variant and exterior shade. Tata has debuted the new Nexon in its new “Fearless Purple” and so the interior is covered in a black and purple shade. There’s the Avinya EV-inspired 2-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo in between. The palm-friendly gear lever is also new, inspired by something more commonly found in luxury cars.
NEW TOUCHSCREEN SYSTEM
The smaller 7-inch touchscreen unit is replaced by a bigger 10.25-inch floating screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and the latest version of Tata’s iRA connected car technology. This top-of-the-line version also gets the thinner bezels for a sharper look.
NEW DIGITAL DRIVER’S DISPLAY
The Nexon facelift employs a new 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display, which definitely looks crisper than the older one’s digitised cluster. Another luxury-class feature here is that your navigation can be shown on the new driver’s display as well.
NEW FEATURES
Other than the bigger displays, the Tata Nexon gets a touch-enabled climate control panel, height-adjustable co-driver’s seat, and a 9-speaker JBL sound system. The existing set of features include an electric sunroof, wireless charger, ventilated front seats, automatic headlamps and wipers, and automatic AC.
SAFETY FEATURES
The facelifted Nexon adds six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, and a blind-view monitor, over the previous version.
POWERTRAINS
The Nexon facelift continues with the same 120PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 115PS 1.5-litre diesel engines. While the latter still offers 6-speed manual and AMT transmission options, the turbo-petrol engine now features a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission along with a 6-speed manual stick. Both the automatics get paddle shifters as segment-first features. Furthermore, the base-spec petrol variants will be offered with a 5-speed manual shifter, like the Altroz hatchback.
The Tata Nexon facelift will command a premium over the current model, which retails from Rs 7.46 lakh to Rs 13.68 lakh (ex-showroom). It is due to launch on September 14 with deliveries expected to begin soon after.
