New Volvo V40 Cross Country

Volvo Cars launched the new Volvo V40 Cross Country which is a capable blend of ruggedness, elegance and refinement.  It is the third variant of the V40 and flaunts many unique features. Talking about the car, Lex Kerssemakers, Senior Vice President Product Strategy & Vehicle Line Management at Volvo Car Corporation said that this new V40 Cross Country is built on the heritage which started in 1997 with the V70 Cross Country. He further added that with the fitment and styling, this is a car for those who look for a sense of adventure in their day to day life.

The new V40 comes with Bluetooth hands-free communication and wireless music playing, Start/Stop which is a standard across the range, plus City Safety auto-braking technology etc. With the world’s first pedestrian airbag, segment’s first Pedestrian Detection technology, Volvo V40 was rated as the safest car by the Euro NCAP Safety Test Ratings.

It will run on alloy wheels which will be available up to 19inch. Up front it will flaunt a honeycomb grille and upright day-running light and will also come with rear bumper with integrated skid plate. In the cabin, it will have an echo of the Raw Copper color which the exterior will sport, with contrasting stitching. The exterior design manager for the V40 Cross Country, Simon Lamarre said that the V40 Cross Country retains the V40 stylishness and integrated the ruggedness in the design with precision and intrinsic details.

Under the hood, the new V40 Cross Country will come with 5-cylinder 2.5-litre T5 engine, capable of delivering 254bhp and a torque of 400Nm. The engine comes mated to an automatic transmission and can accelerate from 0-100kmph in about 6.1 seconds. The T5 is also available with 2.0-litre version which churns out a power of 213bhp and a 300Nm of torque. The T4, 1.6-litre GTDi engine will be available along with a T4 2.0-litre 5-cylinder. The former will deliver a power output of 180bho and latter will deliver an output of 180bhp. The T4 will be available in both, automatic 6-speed transmission and a 6-speed manual transmission.
