The cabin of the new W213 E-Class is heavily inspired from the new flagship S-Class, exuberant ambient lightings and two colossal 12.3-inch displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system!

Mercedes has started to drop details of the next-gen E-Class as the official premiere approaches. Merc will take wraps off the W213 E-Class next month at the 2016 NAIAS aka Detroit Motor Show. The German automaker has detailed the cabin of the upcoming sedan and every bit of it reminds you of the current S-Class.

Audi has started offering 12.3-inch all-digital instrumentation clusters in their last offering (like the new A4 and TT) if you find it interesting, E-Class has two 12.3-inch displays side-by-side! Like the S-Class, the new E-Class has two 12.3-inch displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. And unlike the S-Class, the screens in the E-Class appear like a single unit courtesy to a common single glass. The Mercedes Benz’s Comand Online infotainment system comes optional and so does the new touch-pad on the central tunnel. The decibels are pumped-up with an optional 23-speaker 1450 W twin-amplifier second generation Burmester high-end 3D surround sound system.

“With the interior of the new E-Class, we are giving a new interpretation to the concept of contemporary luxury,” said Hartmut Sinkwitz, Head of Interior Design. “We have designed a spacious and intelligent interior. True to Mercedes-Benz’s design philosophy of sensual purity, it employs technological innovation and high-grade equipment to create an exceptionally emotive experience for driver and front passenger. The E-Class thus not only sets a new standard in the business class. Alongside a workplace and private environment, it also becomes a “third place” – a living area in which passengers are able to enjoy contemporary luxury.”

Almost every button on the new E-Class is touch sensitive. It also comes with a touch-sensitive button on the multi-functional steering wheel. The touch-sensitive buttons respond precisely to horizontal and vertical finger swipes, and Mercedes says it is first ever car to integrate this. The infotainment system can be controlled from either these touch-sensitive switches or from the touchpad in the central tunnel. Speaking of the optional ambient lightings, Mercedes-Benz offers it with 64 colours offering a host of possibilities for personalisation. It adds touches of light, for example, to the trim parts, central display, front storage facility on the centre console, handle recesses, door pockets, front and rear footwells, overhead console, mirror triangle and around tweeters too!
