Hi folks! We spied a test mule of the next-generation Nissan Micra testing. The snapped prototype is heavily camouflaged and looks very similar to the company’s Sway concept, which was showcased at the 2015 Geneva International Motor Show and garnered positive reception.
You can't make out much details, but the overall stance definitely reminded us of the Sway concept. Speaking of design, this generation of the Micra seems to break away from the design approach incorporated by the outgoing model of the Japanese hatchback.
.
Nissan has always tried an out-of-the-box design approach with its Micra hatchback and, by the looks of it, the next generation will be no different. The prototype incorporates a rear spoiler, sloping roofline, aggressive stance, prominent design lines along the side of the car and an angular treatment for the rear-end, which will make the production-spec model quite striking to look at!
Like the Renault Duster – Nissan Terrano and Renault Kwid– Datsun RediGO, the next generation Micra will also be based on the CMF platform. This platform was introduced as a result of the alliance between Renault and Nissan.
It is still unclear, as to whether or not Nissan will bring this all- new hatchback to India. There is also a strong possibility that the Japanese automaker will build an all-new, low-cost hatchback based on the existing ‘V’ platform that underpins the outgoing model of the Micra. This car might be manufactured exclusively for India. The next- generation Micra will be manufactured alongside Renault’s Zoe EV and Clio hatchback at the French automaker’s production facility in Flins, France.
