The Nissan Micra has been a global best-seller. In fact, the Japanese automaker exports more units of the hatchbacks than it sells in the country itself. That should tell you that things aren't going too well for the lovable hatchback in India. Nissan has teased the new Micra, which in all probability, will be India-bound. Here's a glimpse at, umm, the glimpse.
Nissan has been stingy in divulging details about the new Micra, saving most of it for its mega debut at the Paris Motor Show which begins in October. There's a thirteen-second video to look at along with a couple of images of the headlamps and a quarter of the rear.

These little snippets tell us that the new Micra is a big, big departure from the current Micra's bulbous, cutesy rounded design. The overtones from the crazy-looking Nissan Sway concept is obvious, as the curves are traded for sharper and crisper character lines. You can see a hint of Nissan's now-trademark 'V-motion' grille too, that gets a cool gloss black surround.
There's no official pictures of the interior, nor any word on the engine options. What we do know, is that the hatchback now sits on Renault-Nissan's CMF-B (common module family) platform. It is likely to spawn the new Sunny as well, thanks to the modular nature of the underpinnings.
The hatchback has been a huge volume driver for the Japanese automaker globally for the past 32 years. Naturally, an all-new one is a big occasion. The new fifth-generation Micra will be Nissan's show-stopper at the 2016 Paris Motor Show that starts in October. Stay tuned to CarDekho for updates.
