Nissan-Renault-Bajaj small car prototype to hit market by 2011
The upcoming ultra-low-cost car from the Nissan-Renault-Baja partnership will be rolled-out in a prototype version in the year 2011. According to news sources the company will start testing this much anticipated car in the Indian market by next year. It is needs to mentioned here that Nissan-Renault JV has been in talks with India's leading two-wheeler maker Bajaj Auto for developing an India bound ultra low cost and high fuel efficient car, since year 2008. After its launch in the Indian market the prospective ultra low cost car will be locking horns with India's lowest priced and most popular Tata Nano model.
The Nissan-Renault partnership has invested heavily at their Chennai plant in a bid to set-up a high capacity manufacturing facility. The Chennai capacity currently has a production capacity of as much as 4 lakh units annually.
