The Nissan Motorsports division NISMO has set its sights on India, among the emerging car markets. However, the project is still under consideration. None other than NISMO president Shoichi Miyatani has expressed his views on the project. According to him, they are studying the Indian market to introduce the NISMO version of Nissan sports car in India. They intend to take part in the sports events like the motorsport racing and rallies in India.

Indian car market is their first priority and they hope to introduce their sports car line-up in the countries where they already have their presence. India is most likey to be that kind of market where it has reasonable presence selling four cars in India. Nissan Micra hatchback , Nissan Sunny sedan , Nissan Teana and Nissan Xtrail SUV can be seen plying on the roads. Moreover, the growing popularity for the motorsports in India is the other reason for the recent developments. The first Indian Grand Prix F1 race has brought in new dimensions for motor sporting events in India. The awareness for the motorsports is slowly gaining strength.

The Motorsports division of Nissan, NISMO is slowly gaining its importance even in its home country Japan. The NISMO image is being resurrected despite its formation way back in 1984. Presently, it has its cars participating in the sports events and rallies held in Japan. Other than that, it has its presence in selling the sports cars apart from designing and structuring, but restricted to Japan as of now. Moreover, the Japanese car manufacturer has recently showcased their new concept Nissan Juke Nismo at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show.
