After recently being rumoured to be called the Maruti Engage, the Toyota Innova Hycross-derived MPV has officially been named as the “Invicto.” It is set to become the carmaker’s newest flagship offering. The new Maruti Invicto MPV will make its debut on July 5, with the launch likely to happen on the same day.
What’ll It Look Like?
While the Maruti Invicto will mostly be identical to the Toyota Innova Hycross, recent undisguised spy shots show that it will come with some brand-specific changes to differentiate the two. These include tri-piece LED headlights and taillights, and a new design for the grille with two chrome strips connecting the headlights. It is also likely to don a fresh set of alloy wheels.
Inside, its dashboard layout will be the same as the Toyota MPV but will likely have a new cabin theme.
Equipment On Board The Maruti MPV
We believe the Invicto will get the same features list as its Toyota counterpart. This includes premium equipment such as a 10-inch touchscreen unit, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, a digital driver’s display and a powered tailgate.
Passenger safety is taken care of by up to six airbags, vehicle stability control (VSC), front and rear parking sensors, and it would be the first Maruti to offer advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

A Choice Of Two Petrol Powertrains
The Maruti alternative of the Toyota Innova Hycross will feature the same powertrain options. As standard, the MPV comes with a 2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (174PS/205Nm), mated to a CVT automatic, and there’s no manual option. The Toyota MPV also has a strong-hybrid powertrain option, which uses a 186PS (combined) 2-litre petrol engine and an electric motor. It is paired with an e-CVT, offering over 21kmpl of claimed efficiency.
How Much Will It Cost?
We expect the carmaker to price the Invicto from Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom). Its only direct rival will be the Toyota Innova Hycross, while it will slot between the Kia Carens and Carnival.
