German luxury car maker, Porsche has announced to launch a limited edition of its flagship sports car 911, which has turned 50 years old this year. The car will be launched globally including India in September, claims ET. The special edition model, which is all set to debut at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt in September will be limited to 1963 cars only. Bookings for the car has already begin.
The special anniversary 911 is based on the 911 Carrera S, but it comes with a wider body – 44 mm broader across the rear wheel arches – that is typically reserved for the all-wheel drive Carrera 4 models. The highly dynamic and aggressive exterior styling is combined with features that have contributed to the 50-years success story of the car. Such as, the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), with special tuning to complement the increased track width, adds to the exceptional cornering dynamics. The car also features a sports exhaust system for increased emotional character.
Speaking on the bookings and deliveries of the limited edition model, the company said, "The limited edition model is available for order as of now, with first deliveries scheduled to start in December this year. The 911 50th Anniversary Edition has a basic retail price of Rs 1,72,56,000."
The special anniversary edition of 911 comes powered by a 3.8-litre flat-six engine that produces massive 400bhp. The 911 50 Years Edition accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in mere 4.5 seconds and can reach a top speed of 300kmph.
