German luxury carmaker Porsche is aiming to sell 200 units in India in 2009. In this way the company wants to achieve 20 per cent growth in sales for the current year. Earlier this week, the company launched the diesel version of its SUV Cayenne, priced at Rs 64.95 lakh (on-road), powered by a 3.0 litre turbo engine. Speaking about its sales, Rod Wallace, Porsche importer Precision Cars India managing director, marked that, “We have brought 19 units of Cayenne Diesel for India, of which three have already been sold.” However the global sales figure for the company is not up to the mark due to the economic downturn. Wallace said that automobile sales had been stalled globally due to economic slowdown... Porsche would cut its production as it was expecting its sales to be around 80,000 units that year compared to 98,000 units in 2008.”
