Buyers can extend their warranty for up to 5 years with the Renault Secure Program
Renault India has announced that it will offer a warranty of 4 years or 1,00,000km (whichever is earlier) as standard on its bestselling hatchback, the Kwid. This includes 2 years/50,000km standard warranty and a 2 years/50,000km extended warranty (the latter covers fewer services/parts). This warranty will be applicable on all Kwid models and also comes with complementary 4-year roadside assistance. Since warranty on offer is standard across the range, it is included in the ex-showroom price of the car now, which starts from Rs 2.66 lakh and goes up to Rs 4.06 lakh in Delhi.
Maruti Suzuki offers a standard warranty of 2 years/ 40,000 km on the Alto twins, Hyundai offers a standard warranty of 3 years/ 100,000 km on the Eon, while Datsun offers 2 years/ unlimited km standard warranty on the redi-GO. With the increased duration now, standard warranty on the Kwid lasts longer than any other car in its segment.

Renault has bettered its opponents as far as the duration or mileage of the standard warranty on the Kwid is concerned. While the redi-GO gets a 2 years/unlimited km warranty, we don’t expect many private vehicle owners to do lakhs of kilometres in the first couple of years of ownership. On the other hand, there are a lot of owners who might not hit the 1 lakh mark on the odometer in the first 4 years of ownership, making the Kwid’s warranty more protective from a buyer’s standpoint.
Apart from the Kwid’s standard warranty package, Renault has also upgraded the Renault Secure program (includes extended warranty and RSA). The program now offers 5 years/1,00,000km warranty (whichever is earlier) along with RSA on all cars including the Captur, Kwid, Duster, and the Lodgy. So, if you plan to extend the warranty term of your Kwid, you can do so by purchasing Renault Secure. It will increase the duration of the warranty by one more year.
Other carmakers also offer extended warranty on their cars in the entry-level segment. The total warranty (standard + extended) on the Alto twins is 5 years/1,00,000km, on the Datsun redi-GO is 5 years/unlimited km and on the Hyundai Eon is 5 years/1,00,000km.
Renault is showering several discounts on the Kwid this August. The RXT(O) variants of pre-facelift model get free insurance (savings of around Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000) through the Renault Assurance program. These RXT (O) variants also attract free accessories worth Rs 3,500. As far as the new 2018 Kwid is concerned, the French carmaker is offering finance at an interest rate of 7.99 per cent through Renault Finance.
