Renault Nissan R&D centre start work on batteries

Renault Nissan Technology and the Business Centre India Pvt Ltd have started with their research related to batteries.

Mr. Haruyoshi Kumura, Director of Nissan Science Foundation said that, the research is being conducted in the Mahindra World City Industrial Zone which is near to Chennai. The research is to have an extensive work in the area of acid and lithium batteries.

The Business Centre India has been assisting Nissan and Renault in various activities such as product development and more. The centre has employed 1,500 technicians working in various arenas. The areas of work are advanced computer electronics and other basic research.

The extensive research conducted on various aspects is greatly utilized by Nissan-Renault worldwide. The Business centre that started with an investment of Rs. 65 crore has given advanced technologies which are useful worldwide.

Haruyoshi Kumura, the Director of Nissan Foundation and a Fellow of Nissan Motor has stamped on the two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) in collaboration with the IIT Madras (now Chennai). Haruyoshi Kamura said that, this association will see great advancement in the auto mobile sector. One of the MoU is to support the research scheme. Here the young researchers will be nurtured and the talented lot of the students will have training and internships at the prestigious RNTBCI. The MoU will be valid till 2015 and it is for the first time that the NSF is providing financial aid.

The second MoU will have Nissan Support Program in collaboration with Nissan's RD Centre valid until March 2013. This MoU is signed to have a detailed research in the field of Science, Engineering, Humanities, Management and Social Sciences. The researchers will be the young faculty members of IIT M which will propose there projects and selected four or five will be funded. The selection will be an aggressive process from Nissan and IIT M senior educators. The selected students will not only be getting financial help but will also be given short training at the Nissan headquarters in Japan.

This step is one of the biggest taken in the research sector to support the automobile industry. The day was celebrated at IIT M. Various projects by Nissan were showcased at the Technology Exhibition. The New Nissan Micra was a show stealer among the student, faculty and management. The cars promising looks and its various features impressed everyone present. The new and advanced technology used in the car kept the viewers interested.
