Renault plans high for Indian market

Renault Motors, France based leading car maker which had recently snapped its ties with India's largest utility vehicle maker Mahindra & Mahhindra , is gearing up to launch an array of its cars in India across all segments. The Renault cars which are expected to hit the Indian roads in coming months include Renault Megane, Fluence, Koleos, Laguna and small electric car sensation Twizzy.
The Renault Fluence, which is a premium sedan model, is expected to take the Indian route very soon. The model will be rolled out in the price segment of Rs 12 to 14 lakhs and will compete with some of the most popular cars of this segment like Toyota Corolla Altis, Honda Civic, Hyundai Sonata Transform, Skoda Laura and Chevrolet Cruze. The India bound Fluence is expectd to carry all new generation luxury and safety features including Airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system) and
climate control.
On the the other hand in SUV segment, the company is planning to launch its popular Koleos model. The Koleos will be imported to India as completely knocked down (CKD) units and will be assembled at company's Chennai plant.
With this, the company is also in the process to launch an ultra low cost car in the Indian market by the end of year 2012, in partnership with Japanese Nissan and India based Baja Auto. The model is claimed to be offering an exceptional fuel economy of 30 km/l.
